Renewing Faith and Purpose
Life can often leave us feeling weary, discouraged, and uncertain about our direction. But God calls us to renewal—not just in strength but also in vision and purpose. Isaiah 40:31 reminds us of the power of waiting on the Lord:
"But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."
- Isaiah 40:3
What is Vision?
Vision is more than just seeing—it is perceiving, contemplating, and embracing what God has in store for us. Genesis 15:1-5 shows how God gave Abraham a vision beyond his present circumstances:
"After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward. And Abram said, Lord GOD, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus? And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir. And, behold, the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir. And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be." - Genesis 15:1-5
But faith is required for vision to take root. Abraham’s response in Genesis 15:6 reveals the key to aligning our vision with God’s promises:
"And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness." - Genesis 15:6
Brent Brosam once said, “Nothing long lasting or of real significance happens without big vision.” True vision is more than personal ambition—it is seeing through God’s perspective and trusting in His timing.
Waiting on the Lord vs. Relying on Ourselves
Waiting can be difficult, and when we grow impatient, we often try to take matters into our own hands. Isaiah 40:30-31 warns us of the dangers of relying solely on our own strength:
"Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." - Isaiah 40:30-31
When we fail to wait on the Lord, we often resort to self-reliance, as seen in Genesis 16:1-4, when Sarai and Abram tried to force God's promise in their own way:
"Now Sarai Abram’s wife bare him no children: and she had an handmaid, an Egyptian, whose name was Hagar. And Sarai said unto Abram, Behold now, the LORD hath restrained me from bearing: I pray thee, go in unto my maid; it may be that I may obtain children by her. And Abram hearkened to the voice of Sarai. And Sarai Abram’s wife took Hagar her maid the Egyptian, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife. And he went in unto Hagar, and she conceived: and when she saw that she had conceived, her mistress was despised in her eyes." - Genesis 16:1-4
Acting outside of God’s timing leads to unnecessary burdens, but waiting on Him brings renewal.
Renewed Strength in Weakness
Admitting weakness is often difficult, but the Apostle Paul understood that true strength is found in surrendering to Christ. II Corinthians 12:10 reminds us:
"Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong." - II Corinthians 12:10
Renewal comes when we acknowledge our need for God and allow Him to strengthen us.
Elevated in Purpose
God doesn’t just renew our strength—He also elevates our vision and purpose. In Acts 10:11-15, Peter’s perspective was transformed by a vision from God:
"And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending unto him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth: Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air. And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat. But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean. And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common." - Acts 10:11-15
Are there obstacles or biases preventing you from allowing God to elevate your vision? When we fully surrender to His plan, we can step into a purpose greater than our own.
Daily Endurance & Strength in Community
Renewing faith and purpose isn’t a one-time decision—it’s a daily commitment. And we’re not meant to do it alone. The Bible calls us to strengthen one another:
"Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ." - Galatians 6:2
"Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much."
- James 5:16
We are in this together. As we renew our faith and step into our purpose, let’s support and uplift each other, ensuring that no one walks this journey alone.
No matter where you find yourself today, God is calling you to renewal—renewed vision, renewed strength, and renewed purpose. Wait on Him, trust His timing, and allow Him to guide you into all He has planned.
Let’s walk into this season with intention, knowing that the best is yet to come!
