Titus 3:5 (Main Text)

“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost.”• We are saved by grace, not by our works.(Ephesians 2:8-9)“For by grace are ye saved through faith... not of works, lest any man should boast.”

• God loved us even in our sin.(Romans 5:8)“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

Three Truths from Titus 3:5

  1. Salvation is by Grace – It’s a gift, not earned.

  2. Baptism is Essential – A washing of regeneration, a spiritual rebirth.

  3. The Holy Ghost Must Be Renewed – Not a one-time event, but a continual transformation.

The Holy Ghost Empowers Us

(Acts 1:8)“Ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you...”

(Acts 2:39)“The promise is unto you, and to your children... as many as the Lord our God shall call.”

(2 Corinthians 4:7)“We have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God...”

A Life Saturated with the Spirit

(John 7:37-39)“...out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (This spake he of the Spirit...)”

• Like a sponge soaked with water, we are meant to overflow, not just dip into His Spirit.

God Is Relevant

(Hebrews 4:15)“For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.”

• Jesus became relevant through His humanity—He understands our struggles, relates to our pain, and meets us where we are.

God Is Progressive (A Call to Commitment)

(Matthew 16:24)“If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.”

• Following Jesus is a deeper commitment, not less. It’s not about comfort but about consecration.

(Matthew 20:1-2)“For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers... And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard.”

• God is still calling workers into His vineyard. Our faith is not idle—it’s active, engaging the world around us.

Final Exhortation

(Philippians 4:8)“Whatsoever things are true... honest... just... pure... lovely... think on these things.”

• Be saturated with prayer, not complaints.• Be a solution, not part of the dissolution.• Let the cry of intercession be louder than the critics’ complaints.

Don’t settle for a dry faith. Be saturated, renewed, and overflowing with the Spirit of God —daily.
