In January of 2014, Bro. Monroe received his Local license with the United Pentecostal Church International. At this same time, the Monroes felt like God was calling them to the Clemson area, to start a church work. Clemson is a college town about 15 miles just north of Anderson, S.C., with a population of around 14,296.
Rev. Matthew Monroe was born and raised in Napa, California. From his childhood into his adult years, he and his family attended New Life Tabernacle where the Rev. Paul Price was his pastor. It was there, that he received the baptism of the Holy Ghost, and was baptized in Jesus name.
In 1988, Bro. Monroe married his lovely wife, Elvia Mendez. God blessed them with two beautiful children, Matthew and Sarah, and they now have two grandchildren, Ayden and Scarlett whom they love to spoil.
Bro. and Sis. Monroe have worked and labored in the church in several different capacities. In 1993, they began working with the youth group in Napa as Assistant Youth Pastor. In 1999, they took over as Youth Pastor. They moved to Antioch, CA in 2001 and worked as the Ministry Coordinator. In 2005, the Monroes moved to American Canyon and worked as Assistant to the Pastor. In 2011, they felt led by the Lord to move to South Carolina, where they have been members of Sanctuary of Praise. Both Bro. and Sis. Monroe have been members of the praise team, assisted in planning various events, served as lay ministers, Bro. Monroe has served as Men’s Ministry Director and was apart of the Ministers In Training Class. Bro. and Sis. Monroe are looking forward to seeing the work that God is going to do in the great city of Clemson.
